Mountains in May

Lord willing, tomorrow afternoon, we'll be heading out ot the mountains! We've always wanted to see the Davis Mountains in the spring so we're taking advantage of a soccer-free weekend to hit the road! Here are a few pictures from our week since I'm assuming I won't have time tomorrow to post.
Logan had his first sleepover with a friend. This picture proves that they partied like rock stars. A bottle of water, a barf bag and totally konked out on the way home.
Logan's friend Dillon came to spend the day with us on Thursday. His mom, Kristen, came to Florida and we live on the same side of town. We help each other when we have appointments and want to volunteer at the school without having to take the littles along.
And here's a little video of Leah. She got to help with announcements twice this week! She told me it's one of her favorite things, to speak in front of people. She has the lunch menu portion to read to the rest of the kids in school. I know it's hard to see her, I just had my phone. She's second from the left, pig tails bouncing. Love this little lady!
Next week i'm sure i'll have more pictures! Mountains, hikes, animals and sunsets. And more importantly, Leah has field day, an award ceremony, her class party and her LAST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN! I just may need my inhailer...it's a big week, folks!

This Week in May

My sister keeps a super blog and every Friday loads up pics of her week with her guys. To check it out, go here. It's super and a highlight of my day when she posts! I don't have the phone to organize the pictures the way she does, but i'm going to try my hand at keeping track of my favorite shots of the week...

 1. We went walking to find armadillos and instead, we spotted this flower on Thursday. It's the same flower that the "speck" lives on in the movie, "Horton Hears A Who".
 2. Feeding the turtles in our backyard.
 3. Having a chat with this little guy.
 4. Stopping for a break in the shade. Those Hot Wheels cars are tiresome.
 5. Happy Mother's Day to me! Can you see the chocolate mountain cake? It didn't last long...
 6. Logan's watching construction in Dallas from the train.
7. Sweet Leah finished her first chapter book this week! 8 days of kindergarten left!

My Nerds

I've always assumed and expected, that my kids would be like me. I couldn't have been more wrong about them when it comes to reading. And i'm so thankful. We stopped at the library yesterday, (which was their idea, not mine.) These are the books they chose.
Rocks and dinosaurs. Sheesh. Leah also decided before we got there that she'd pick a Junie B. Jones chapter book and a Magic Treehouse chapter book. She found her picks and we went home for naps before choir.
Leah asked me if she could read instead of sleep so I said yes...this cute little nerd of mine read the entire Junie B. Jones book during her nap!! I never read an entire book on my own for fun until college.
I'm so thankful that she's not just like me! Keep up that reading, Boo!

My Mooses

I got to go on a date tonight with my love. Aunt Katie came to stay with the kids. They were tucked neatly into their beds, clean hair, warm skin and snarkly allergied snores puffing from their sweet little lips.
This is how I found them. And yes. I'd give these mooses a muffin anyday. Can't squeeze them enough.

Not All Mondays are Bad

I loved my Monday. I cleaned. A lot. And now the house looks awesome. Until tomorrow. I walked with Logan to the school. We ate with Leah. She was happy. I got Little T. I made meatball subs. I folded more laundry. All the while, Top Chef was playing in the background and I loved it. Ryan came home, no evening practice. T went home. We ate our supper together and went to our favorite little spot in Dallas. Bass Pro Shops. I got to hold my mans' hand while the kids munched on some fudge and checked out the tents and the 4-wheelers. We even splurged and let them blow some quarters on the hunting games. I'll only say that us girls beat the boys a lot, to a little. This is my kind of Monday.
Leah was stoked because she just snagged some neon socks with stars on them. Plus, she's a gangsta.
Your eyes do not decieve you. Of all the hats Loag had to choose from, he chose the $2.99 mesh trucker hat. And he wears it on top of his head...and I love it.
I will say it again. This is my kind of Monday.

Man of the House

This is my second post revolving around Logan today. It had to be done. When Ryan's away, I remind Logan that he's the man of the house, and it helps him remember to make good choices. One of the responsibilities he's embraced, is saying our prayer at dinner time. Ryan is usually away while we eat dinner so he's taken this job very seriously. Before I share his prayer before dinner with you tonight, here is a basic framework of the things Ryan says when he prays with the kids at night.
1) Praise- "Lord, you're so good to us..."
2) "Thanks for our family, home, food, jobs, etc.."
3) "Please continue to draw us closer to You..."
4)" We pray all these things in Jesus' name, Amen."

 etc...

Logan's prayer tonight:

"Dear God, thank You for our food and our drinks. Please keep Daddy safe when he drives home from soccer tonight. And please draw GG closer to us. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
